Always so much fun to make lists and nothing is better than a list of favorite books! Here goes my top ten!! 1. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte Classic tale of the love between Heathcliff and Cathy set amongst the English Moors. While it doesn't have a happily ever after the passion and the depth of feeling between Heathcliff and Cathy is entrancing. 2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte The story of a poor, unlovable orphan girl who finds a place in the world at last beside a man who is more broken than her? Haunting and beautiful I could read this over and over. What can I say? I love the Bronte sisters #fanalert
There are so many others I could add to this list but I would be here forever!!
As you can see there is quite a bit of variety ranging from classics, historical romances (bodice rippers hehe) to young adult. But they all have romance and heart stopping love at their core and most have a happy ending. Another thing they all have in common is the way they've influenced my own writing. Just a flick through Time After Time and you will find references to Healthcliff and Cathy and in Harris House is strongly influenced by Jane Eyre. What are some of your favorite books? And how have they influenced you? I would love to hear your stories. bye for now Wendy xx

Like a lot of writers I find Pinterest to be a wonderful source of inspiration. From quotes, to settings, to music and to characters I can spend hours browsing images and pinning pictures and words that really speak to me, in fact, I often do. It's a huge delay tactic #guilty #sorrynotsorry For my writing I often start with a setting. Just like in Time After Time the first place I imagined was Broadhurst Manor and the smaller, quaint parsonage nearby where Penelope lived. For my latest WIP I kept returning to images of a lonely English home set among the Yorkshire Moors. It is after all no secret that I am a huge Bronte fan. You can see some of the images that inspired Harris House here. From there I add the characters in my head who are so real and vivid that if I passed them in the street I would recognize them instantly and we would probably end up being best friends. Then, through the writing process, I really get to know them such is the case with Danielle. This image, sourced from Pinterest, is almost exactly how I visualized her in my mind. Beautiful, young, haunted and about to fall in love in the most tragic of ways... Introducing Danielle - who is about to arrive at Harris House only to be drawn into terrifying world of Cameron and Lillian Harris. Next time I will share the inspiration for Cameron Harris.
bye for now Wendy xx I've been busy and my poor blog has been neglected for way too long. But I have been busy working on another WIP and I wanted to share a little inspiration of what to expect from my next book, coming late 2016. The inspiration for Harris House. The mystery of Harris House. These words #sigh. They set the mood perfectly for the romance between Danielle and Cameron. So just a little teaser, but I should have more for you shortly. Bye for now, Wendy xx |
