Time After Time, and in particular the idea of a girl remembering her past lives came about through a series of ideas. For one, I love and adore the early eighteenth century English period. Wuthering Heights is one of my favourite novels of all time and I've always wanted to write a novel set in the English countryside, in particular the wild moors where Cathy and Heathcliff fell in love. That was always going to be the setting for Penelope and Heath's story. The second inspiration came from somewhere completely left of centre. The Twilight Zone, yes that old television show with the haunting music. I remember staying up late one night and catching an episode which has stayed with me for years. The episode was one where people were reincarnated only they REMEMBERED their previous lives and were conscious of the fact that death wasn't the end for them and that once dead they would only be reborn - maybe somewhere better. I found the idea incredibly thought provoking. In this episode the world was a mess and suicide was common place, with people taking their lives for the merest of disappointments in the hopes of being born in a better time and better place. Since then, I've been fascinated by the idea of reincarnation and what would really happen if you could remember past lives..... I have lots of ideas on how this could work in future novels. Stay tuned! So there you have it... a freaky 1970's (?) television show is the inspiration behind Time After Time. Oh, and I also love creating stories of people who are destined for each other. Soppy, I know, but I'm a hopeless romantic like a lot of people. happy reading! Wendy

Time After Time released this week! Yay, have been doing a little happy dance all week. So wonderful to see it up and about the place and have loved receiving feedback on my debut novel. Keep them coming as I love hearing from readers! A lot of people have asked me if there is going to be more of Abbie and Marcus and the short answer is no. Not at the moment. I do plan to write Rebecca's story but otherwise I have decided to leave Abbie and Marcus for the time being. But of course, never say never.... In the meantime I have some other exciting works in progress that I am looking forward to sharing soon! Happy readings, Wendy |
